July 05, 2010
TORONTO – Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that the Government of Canada will make, on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, contributions to three charitable foundations: the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, the True Patriot Love Foundation, and the Royal Canadian Naval Benevolent Fund.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce these contributions on behalf of Her Majesty.  They will serve to improve the well-being of many Canadians in need, from disadvantaged children to military personnel, veterans and their families all across the country,” said Prime Minister Harper.  The Prime Minister also presented Her Majesty with a Team Canada hockey jersey from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, which she will donate to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Her Majesty asked that contributions be made to charitable organizations providing support to youth and Canadian military personnel and their families.
  • The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation is  committed to providing a fun-filled camp environment for children from  economically-disadvantaged homes.
  • The True Patriot Love Foundation is  dedicated to raising funds for programs to improve the well-being and morale  of Canadian military personnel and their families, and to the celebration of  their selfless service.
  • The Royal Canadian Naval Benevolent Fund  promotes the well-being of current and former members of the naval forces of  Canada and their families.

Each charitable organization will receive $100 000.  The announcement was made during the official dinner held in honour of Her Majesty by the Government of Canada.
